August
31, 2007 We all leave a mark on the planet, and we have a responsibility
to make that mark a positive one. That's the primary message of The Coca-Cola
Company's 2006 Corporate Responsibility Review published online August
31, 2007. The report is a call for action to governments, agencies, businesses
and individuals -- employees, consumers, investors and others -- to reshape the
world by joining together to address global issues. In the report, Neville
Isdell, Company chairman and chief executive officer, says, "We must refresh
the world responsibly... As we create value for our shareowners and other stakeholders
by running a successful business, we must also be a force for positive global
change. We must help create economic and social value, protect and improve the
environment, and contribute to long-term sustainability... "Imagine
what could happen if every organization, every community, every individual simply
did the right thing -- for the planet and for all who share it." Company
president and chief operating officer Muhtar Kent adds: "We know that the
continued health and sustainable growth of our business depends on the long-term
health of the communities that surround it..... Our Company is committed to making
a positive mark on the world. We hope our actions encourage others to consider
the mark they choose to leave." This year's report explores the connectivity
between sustainable business and sustainable communities, exploring key challenges
and opportunities that face our business and the communities we serve: water,
energy and climate, human rights and well-being. In addition, the report
provides a performance update on the actions our Company has taken this year to
address environmental and social concerns, presented for the first time in alignment
with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and United Nations Global Compact principles.
