Black Enterprise Names The Coca-Cola Company One Of 40 Best Companies For Diversity
The Coca-Cola Company has earned a spot on Black Enterprise magazine’s 2nd annual list of the best companies for diversity -- adding to a string of 2006 diversity honors.
The leading business publication conducted an extensive survey of more than 1,000 of the country’s largest publicly traded companies, and more than 50 top global companies with significant operations in the United States. The survey focused on initiatives involving African-Americans and other ethnic minority groups as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. Survey response was up 42 percent over last year.
Black Enterprise evaluated each responding company’s diversity programs and consulted with diversity experts and corporate diversity officers. To make the top 40 list, a company had to demonstrate significant representation of African-Americans and other ethnic minorities in four key areas: corporate procurement, corporate board participation, senior management representation and total workforce.
The complete special report on the best companies for diversity, including methodology and selection criteria, will be featured in the July 2006 issue of Black Enterprise.
